About Our Home Town Theater
Located at 409 Ogden Street, the Granada Theater has been a cornerstone of Oxford's cultural landscape since 1918. Originally seating 700 patrons, the theater has evolved over the years, reflecting the changing times and the community's enduring love for cinema.
In 1992, after the original building was destroyed by fire, a new Granada Theater was constructed on the same site. This modern facility continues the legacy, offering first-run movies in a cozy, single-screen setting with 120 seats. The theater is entirely volunteer-run, showcasing the town's collective spirit and dedication to preserving this historic venue .
The Granada Theater is more than just a place to watch movies; it's a gathering spot where memories are made, and community bonds are strengthened. With affordable ticket prices and concessions, it remains an accessible entertainment option for families and individuals alike.
Support and Sponsorship
Community involvement is vital to the Granada Theater's ongoing success. Residents and businesses can support the theater by sponsoring movie showings, which typically cost $250 for an entire weekend. Sponsors have the opportunity to choose the movie and are acknowledged for their contribution, fostering a sense of ownership and pride within the community.
Join Our Volunteer Team
The Granada Theater thrives because of its dedicated volunteers. From operating the concession stand to managing ticket sales and maintaining the facility, volunteers play a crucial role in the theater's operations. It's a rewarding way to give back to the community, meet new people, and be part of Oxford's rich cultural tradition.
